With the “TRX” system the Tyros keyboard is placed on the top for you to play your right hand melody, the keyboard is not split so the full 61 keys are available for you. A midi lower keyboard is then placed below and in front of the Tyros. This can be a 76 note Yamaha NP30s or Piano weighted 88 note Yamaha P85s. These are used as Midi keyboards only with their built in sounds turned down. They offer their full range of notes and play the sounds from the Lower section of the Tyros keyboard. The player’s choice of sound is virtually limitless, from Full on Drawbar organ, Stings, Brass, and Piano etc. The volume can be easily adjusted to suit. Talking of Piano, you have the possibility of playing Piano style with the Auto Accompaniment following your chord, but still remember you have the Upper keyboard to provide additional sound without having to push any buttons. Also remember as all the sounds used are coming from the Tyros keyboard it is possible to use the Transpose function which will control upper, lower and bass just like an organ.
On the floor, underneath is also provided a 13 note Midi Pedal board, this works just like an organ. Of course the Tyros will also play Auto bass if required. On Tyros 3, much has been made of the new “Free Style” rhythms. These offer a solid Bass sound appropriate to the chord being played. This replicates the Bass pedals of an organ, however its much more rewarding and musical to play the Bass yourself, giving that lovely full sound that makes organ so much more enjoyable to play and listen to. Another issue with Tyros is the powered Bass speaker part of the TRS-MS02 speaker system, without bass pedals there is generally space to place this on the floor, however with Bass pedals there is not usually space so Music Land have very cleverly provided a neat, tidy hanging bracket so the bass bin can float just under the keyboard section. Much like an organ would have its speakers. The small satellite speakers and music rest still sit on top of the tyros with the brackets provided. If more powerful speakers are required then a great sounding system is available from SR. This offers a much louder sound than standard Tyros speakers.
The “TRX” system also includes a very sturdy organ type T stand, built to be the correct height and width for true organ setup. On top of the T bar stand is a hand built strong metal frame accurately made to support the Lower manual in just the right position under the Tyros for comfortable organ playing. Extras also included are volume Expression pedal for Tyros and sustain pedal.
In its standard setup the Tyros includes registrations in the form of One Touch Play presets for each of the Rhythm styles. However the clever people at the Yamaha club have been very busy and produced great new registrations that very easily turn Tyros 2 or 3 into a full organ with appropriate sounds for the upper and lower keyboards and bass pedals. These registrations are loaded in from a USB stick and offer settings for a huge variety of musical styles, from Classics, Pop, Big Band, Orchestral and Brilliant organ setting included Theatre, Classical and Drawbars. Over 400 registrations are instantly available and these stay in the keyboard all the time once loaded. They include an appropriate rhythm style however by simply pushing the “Freeze” button the rhythm style is locked and you are free to use all the registrations as you want.
The best thing about the “TRX” setup is the way it all comes together, other stands and setups are available but often things are not quite in the right place, the setup is not strong enough and just does not quite work as it should. Music Land has been very careful to use good quality, solid components throughout.

For many years we enjoyed some brilliant electronic organs, instruments with two keyboards and bass pedals. Sadly the organ market is shrinking to an all time low. Yamaha UK have decided not to sell any more organs at all, however research and development is still very strong in the electronic keyboard market, with the latest offering from Yamaha being the incredible Tyros 3 instrument. Many customers moved away from organs stating space or cost was an issue.
As keyboards got better it seemed that the organs could not compete and sadly they have dwindled away to very few sales and customers. Essex based music retailer Music Land did not want to say goodbye to organ customers so have spent time putting together a set up they are calling “TRX”. This provides everything you need to turn your existing Tyros 2 or 3 into a proper 2 manual organ with pedals. They can also sell you the complete kit including Tyros 2 or 3. Several options are available including different speaker systems and different lower manual instruments. Modern keyboard instruments offer great sounds and styles all packaged in a compact space, however you are usually limited to a total keyboard area of 61 notes, and this would typically be split into a left area of 19 keys for your chords and 42 keys for your right hand melody. With an organ you had many more keys for both hands, giving much more possibilities for musical performance.
